"Reaching the unreached through the reached." Ms. Shobha Managoli is a NIMHANS AIumnus, a psychotherapist, consultant, trainer, mentor and author based out of Bengaluru, with over 30 years of experience. From individuals to groups of people, rural to urban settings, and paediatrics to geriatrics, her works include, but is not limited to children facing intellectual disabilities, women with fertility issues, adults with history of abuse in childhood, couples with disturbed relationship, slow learners, patients with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Individuals showing deliberate self-harm (SH) behaviour and people exhibiting suicidal intent or those who have attempted suicide. Apart from her clinical work she has also interacted with groups of people during training sessions, when she learnt how to connect to people at a larger level, and create a change in that space by creating customised training modules and executing sessions to help the participants bring a transformation in their personal and professional life. That is also when she realised the absence of the guidance of an experienced person in helping young professionals achieve their goals, which is when her journey as a mentor began. She started helping out budding psychologists and since 1991, she has mentored and transferred her knowledge, skills, and competence to over 75 budding psychologists without an institutional backing or support. She realised that it is important as a psychologist to update and customise the communication methods, and explore the power of the virtual world to continue making a change in people's lives. She strongly believes that by combining psychology and technology, we would be able to reach out to and assist a larger audience. It would have been surprising if such a great personality with such a vast experience and varied work wasn't recognised and awarded! Ms Shobha received the "Young Scientist Award" in 1993 by Indian Academy of Applied Psychology. She has received the "Jana-Seva Award" in 2002 by Yuvachetana Yuvajana Kendra for her contributions to the field of human resource. Along with providing training and mentoring for a wide range of professionals like Social workers, Human resource (HR) managers, Women leaders, Educationists, Subject matter experts, Entrepreneurs, and Activists, her aim is to provide quality training and mentoring in Tier II & III cities.
